HOW LONG IS THE WARRANTY PERIOD?

LTW GmbH offers the end user a 12-month warranty on all major defects of the GeoTrencher® which are demonstrably due to material or manufacturing defects. Normal wear and tear, defects resulting from improper use and maintenance are excluded from the warranty. The digging chain and digging bar including nose plate, deflection star and bearings are generally not part of the warranty agreement. The factory warranty of Husqvarna® cut-off machines is covered by LTW GmbH if LTW GmbH has attached the GeoTrencher to the Husqvarna® cut-off machine. See the warranty conditions in the GeoTrencher® operating instructions and the Husqvarna® warranty conditions.

WHY DOES LTW GMBH ONLY OFFER COMPLETE MACHINES WITH HUSQVARNA CUT-OFF MACHINES?

Fitting the GeoTrencher® may invalidate the factory warranty of the power cutter. For this reason, LTW GmbH only offers the GeoTrencher® fully assembled on Husqvarna® cut-off machines. In this case, LTW assumes the factory warranty of the Husqvarna® power cutter. When used on a Dolmar®, Makita® or Stihl® power cutter, LTW GmbH does not assume any warranty for the power cutter. If you want to attach the GeoTrencher® to a power cutter other than Husqvarna®, please contact your local dealer. GeoTrencher® attachment kits are only sold through specialist service dealers and are not designed for self-attachment by the end user.

IS IT EASY TO USE?

When watching the videos, the GeoTrencher® appears to be simple and easy to use. However, there is a learning curve involved in operating the GeoTrencher® productively and reliably. The most common operating errors are poor maintenance (tightening nuts and bolts, lubricating the drive chain, using good fuel, proper air filter and a good digging chain)

HOW LONG DOES A GRAVE CHAIN LAST?

The GeoTrencher® digging chain is a self-sharpening heavy duty chain made of hardened steel. Unlike a chainsaw chain that needs to be sharpened with a file, the digging chain is sharpened by the abrasive nature of the soil you are digging in. Some soils are more abrasive than others and can determine the life of a digging chain. Other factors that affect the life of a digging chain are the technique of the operator, the depth of the trench and the speed of the digging chain. Experienced operators can effectively extend the life of the digging chain. The range of a digging chain is between 50 and 500 meters. Under normal conditions in the garden, ranges of approx. 300 meters are achieved.

Each GeoTrencher® comes with 2 digging chains.

The service life of a chain can be increased by using replacement teeth.

Chains can be easily reordered in the online store.

WHY DO YOU NEED THE GEOCART?

The GeoCart® is a chassis for your GeoTrencher®, it can be used with all GeoTrencher® models GT400, GT500 and GT700, although we strongly recommend the GeoCart® for use with the GT700. The GeoCart® increases digging accuracy and significantly reduces user fatigue.

HOW DEEP CAN I DIG?

The GT400 has a 400mm bar can dig up to 400mm deep, the width is 25-60mm depending on the chain, the 38mm digging chain is fitted as standard. The GT500 has a 500mm bar can dig up to 500mm deep, the width is 25-60mm depending on the chain, the 38mm digging chain is fitted as standard. The GT700 has a 700mm bar can dig up to 700mm deep, the width is 25-60mm depending on the chain, the 38mm digging chain is fitted as standard.

CAN I DIG THROUGH SOLID ROCK?

GeoTrencher® does not dig through solid rock. It will dig in all soils that a conventional trencher can. If any solid object is encountered in the ground during digging, the experienced operator will feel a bump and then climb over it and continue digging. Small stones (up to approx. 80mm diameter) can be removed by pulling on the GeoTrencher®. To facilitate the removal of larger stones from the ground, cuts can be made around, over or on either side for easy removal by hoe, shovel or hand.

CAN I DIG THROUGH TREE ROOTS?

Yes, the self-sharpening digging teeth allow chopping / cutting of tree roots up to 100mm in diameter depending on the type of wood. It is recommended to reduce the speed and pressure of the bar to get the greatest cutting performance. (Note: GeoTrencher® cuts through roots, but not at the same speed as a chainsaw cuts through wood. It takes patience. Using the GeoTrencher® to cut through roots may result in adverse or premature chain wear.

WHAT ABOUT KICKBACKS?

Although GeoTrencher® may look like a chainsaw, it’s actually quite different. GeoTrencher® is designed to dig in the ground, not cut down trees. The digging chain rotates at about 1/3 the speed of a chainsaw cutting chain. The digging chain and bar are much heavier than a saw bar and chain. Speed reduction, together with the advantage of a heavier bar and chain, significantly reduces the possibility and intensity of kickback. If the GeoTrencher® is used correctly and digs in the ground, kickback is not a problem.

ARE GEOTRENCHER® PRODUCTS DANGEROUS?

Like all tools, the GeoTrencher® can cause damage and injury if used negligently. We recommend using appropriate safety equipment when working, including face protection, hearing protection, gloves, shin guards and hard toe boots. Always keep body parts and clothing away from the digging chain when starting and operating your GeoTrencher®. Always switch off the engine when working on your machine. GeoTrencher® is much safer than other tools when it is doing its job – digging in the ground. The GeoTrencher® also carries the LSV certificate for occupational safety. The Social Insurance for Agriculture, Forestry and Horticulture certifies that the GeoTrencher® complies with the general regulations for the operation of technical work equipment in terms of accident protection of the accident prevention regulations of the agricultural trade association.
